My kids love watching the bird fly in and out of it. We have seen Cardinals, Blue Jays, and Sparrows in it. It took about 10 days for the birds to start using it. I can watch them enjoy the birdseed while I am washing the dishes.ĭon’t get discouraged if the birds don’t use it right away. We have some beautiful Cardinals that fly around the woods next to our house. Make sure you hang it near a window so you can watch the birds all day long. Let the children add the birdseed to their finished bird feeder. Cut about 18 inches of wire.įeed the wire through the holes and wind them together at the top. Poke 2 holes on opposite sides at the top so you can add the wire to hang the bird feeder. The chirping is mad crazy all the birds hanging out in the bushes beside the feeder windowbirdfeeder birdfeeder redcardinalbird cardinals fyp. This is where the bird can sit to eat the food. Then feed the wooden stick through the holes. Poke a hole on the left and right sides of the opening about 1 inch from the bottom. Using the permanent markers, let your child draw all over the gallon jug. With a scissor, poke a hole so it is easier to cut out around the outline. Wire (I used the wire that is used to make wreaths)ĭraw an outline on one side so you know where you need to cut out the hole for the bird seed. With earth day just around the corner, I wanted to do a project with my kids to help them recycle some of the products we had used in our house and also do something that would benefit something outside.Īfter our Spring Picnic, we had a few empty gallon jugs and saw online that people had made these gallon jugs into bird feeders! It was the perfect craft for our family to do! You just need a few supplies and it is a project your kids will love.and so will the birds! Precision Tools: Embarking on this DIY venture demands a toolkit equipped with precision instruments. We spent too much time inside during the winter and I plan on spending more time outside to enjoy the warmer weather and enjoying nature. Spring is finally here! After a long, cold winter here in Kentucky, I am looking forward to watching the trees get their leaves back and see the flowers bloom.
